About us..
Hi! We are ‘The Soundwriters’, an indie pop duo, based out of Kamloops, BC! We fell in love with making music, and then we fell in love with each other. Or maybe it was the other way around? It’s hard to tell sometimes!
About The Band
The ‘Sound’ of the band is Sam; a multi-talented instrumentalist with a collection of cool hats and silly jokes.
The ‘writer’ is Emma; a lyricist with powerful vocals, and a love for funky earrings and fresh journals.
We make music that feels fresh and exciting, but also like a hug from an old friend. It’s cool, it’s cozy, it’s real. Our album ‘Better Than Before’ was released in September 2025, and not to toot our own horn but it’s a must listen if you like indie pop music. Before this most recent project, we released an EP titled ‘Anti-Famous’ which included a local-favourite song called ‘Girl at the Party’.
Emma has been writing and singing all her life, and Sam has been playing drums, guitar, bass, etc for just as long- ‘The Soundwriters’ as a project is an accumulation of everything we have learned, loved, and hoped for. We have played live shows for the past three years, with a chemistry and sound that feels hard to capture unless you hear it.

A song about wanting more,
but realizing your current situation

but sometimes the best thing we can

we used to be ourselves. Often,
you’ll find you’re much ‘better than before.
Girl at the Party
A song about feeling overwhelmed,
at a public space, but acknowledging
your allowed to exist and be present.
There can be so much more to the
wallflower that sits in the corner.
